Georgia will have eight long holiday weekends during 2018, including one created by the official “Georgia State Holiday” on the Friday following Thanksgiving and another one created by the southern-states-only holiday called “Confederate Memorial Day” in late April.

The date of the latter was originally chosen to commemorate the last major surrender of Confederate forces on April 26th, 1865 and is now meant to honor all who fought for the Southern cause.
