Indiana State Holidays

Discover upcoming public holiday dates for Indiana and start planning to make the most of your time off.

In addition to federally recognized holidays, Indiana also recognizes Lincoln’s birthday on February 12. Most states combine Lincoln and Washington’s birthday on the third Monday in February as President’s Day. The governor may change the observance of any legal holiday except Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to another day during the year. In recent years, Lincoln’s birthday has been observed on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

All state offices are closed on official holidays and state employees are entitled to paid time off on those dates. Private employers, however, are not required to close on official holidays nor are they required to pay employees for the holiday if they do close.
