Kentucky celebrates many of the same holidays as the rest of the country and many of those are federally recognized holidays as well. In addition, although they are not recognized as official holidays, state employees are given paid time off on the day after Thanksgiving as well as the day before or day after Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Kentucky also celebrates Robert E. Lee Day on January 19 while the third Monday in January is designated as Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Kentucky also celebrates Franklin D. Roosevelt Day on January 30 and Lincoln’s birthday on February 12 while Washington’s birthday is celebrated on the third Monday in February. On June 3, Kentucky celebrates Confederate Memorial Day and Jefferson Davis’ Birthday.
